Duraflame heaters are one of the leading manufacturers in the world of heaters. But, every year, new brands appear with new models and new promises. One day they are here, the next they are gone. But Duraflame has been producing top-quality heaters for over 15 years and the company is not going anywhere.
When it comes to infrared heaters, there are not much better than Duraflame. These are typically reliable and competitively priced when compared with other brands on the market. Ask most customers and they will report back that they are happy with the Duraflame heater’s performance, reliability, and price.
But do these heaters live up to their expectations and the hype built up over the years? We are going to find out!
Continue reading to find out extensive reviews on some of the top Duraflame heaters. Duraflame may be a proven name with an established history but will we agree? Let’s find out.
Duraflame Heaters
We believe that you should always go with a trusted brand that has a proven track history of reliability and top performance. Duraflame is one of these brands. When you buy a heater from this established company, you are almost always guaranteed a high-quality piece of equipment.
One area in which Duraflame has succeeded is with the advent of infrared heaters. These have become ever more popular over recent years as consumers have begun to realize the incredible benefits they offer compared to more conventional heating systems.
Infrared heaters have a simple function. They heat objects throughout a room instead of the air itself.
Take a traditional convection heater as an example. These work by warming up the air around you so some spots may miss out. This is when you experience cold spots. Infrared heaters emit infrared rays that heat up each object in a room.
And yes, this includes your good self. If you want to know how this feels, just stand in the sunshine for a few moments. This heat that you feel is similar to how infrared heaters warm you and others up.
Not only is this more efficient at heating rooms but it’s also cost-efficient. Infrared technology can reduce your heating bills by 50% or even more. This is because they convert most of their energy into heat.
Further good news is that Duraflame has a range of infrared heaters on the market. Let’s take a look at a few below.
Duraflame DFI-5010-01 Infrared Quartz Fireplace Stove
If you love the ambiance of a good old-fashioned-looking stove, then Duraflame’s DFI-5010-01 model is a superb option. Their appearance automatically creates a sense of calmness in you like simpler times. With its glowing log set and 3D flame effect, Duraflame has produced a very realistic-looking infrared heater.
Older models saw flame effects on a flat-screen which, unsurprisingly, didn’t look very realistic. But Duraflame’s innovative technology includes a patent-pending 3D flame effect that offers a full 270 degrees of viewing.
The flame’s realism is only exaggerated by the beveled glass finish and side view window panels making the flames appear layered.
One stand-out aspect of the Duraflame DFI-50101-01 Quarts fireplace is how it fits into any room without any problem. Regardless of the style and decor of your home, this heater will look great. There is a bountiful supply of power too.
The heater pumps out 5,200 BTU (1,500 watts) of heat and warms up to 1,000 square feet with ease. If you have a small living space, this traditional-looking heater is especially useful.
You can choose between 68 degrees Fahrenheit to 82 degrees Fahrenheit with its thermostat and this can be controlled via buttons on the heater and remote control.
Its metal outer casing is sleek and durable. Not only this, but it is conveniently portable too. And most importantly of all, it is very safe to use around children and pets. The outer casing remains cool to touch at all times so there is little to no risk of any accidental burns.
Weighing 28.6 pounds and measuring 13.1 x 24 x 23.4 inches, this is a compact, lightweight unit. It is easy for one person to move to wherever they desire and when it is set up, the infrared technology helps maintain your room’s natural humidity. Therefore, you can enjoy a comfortable heat that doesn’t dry out your space’s air too much.
Some users have reported that the temperature range is a little disappointing, especially in rooms larger than 400 square feet. However, this is advertised as a compact heater so you should consider other, larger options for bigger spaces.
Some elements of the design are somewhat awkward too. Quite frustratingly, the digital control panel is blocked by the door. This means you cannot see what level the brightness is when using your remote control.
Unless you leave the door open, there is no way of knowing. Such design faults can be easily remedied by Duraflame and we are sure they will improve on these aspects going forward.
Duraflame 9HM9126-O142 Portable Heater
When we look at Duraflame’s 9HM9126-0142 Portable Heater, we find a sturdy, reliable, and affordable unit. Along with a sleek oak veneer finish, this heater is pleasantly quiet to operate. This 1,500 watts unit is certainly one of the most energy-efficient space heaters made by Duraflame.
The heater grabs your attention as soon as you look at it. Its color and finish look rich. Some models with a wooden finish tend to look a little cheap or fake but there is no such issue here. It can easily become another stylish item to match your home’s decor.
With a classic rectangular design, the Duraflame 9HM9126-0142 heater is constructed from solid oak for superb durability. And versatility is offered by this unit as it can double up as a coffee side table if required.
Measuring 13.9 x 16.4 x 15.3 inches, it is compact enough to fit into smaller spaces and easy to carry from room to room.
Customers appreciate the lack of construction and installation needed when buying this heater. It comes set up and ready to plugin with instructions to help you get it up and running in no time.
As with the best indoor heaters for large rooms, this portable unit is designed to be energy efficient. It features 6 infrared-quartz heating elements as well as heating exchangers for the highest volume of heat output that uses 1,500 watts.
Located on the rear of the unit is a fan that sucks in air with a blower to send this stream of warm air through a vent situated on its front. These vents are non-adjustable meaning warm air flows straight out in front rather than in different directions.
This is a little disappointing if you’re looking for direct heat in certain parts of your room at all times. However, as it’s portable, you can just maneuver it when and where you want it.
Duraflame is known for producing long-lasting products and the 9HM9126-0142 is no exception. With a heating lifetime of 20,000 hours (over two years), you should get plenty of use for a long time to come.
Although it is made to heat up 1,000 square feet of room, it seems to lack this power. There is no doubt that it is great in a 300 or 400 square foot space but 1,000 square feet seems to push it just a little too hard. This is probably down to its vent designs as the warm air only heats up directly in front of the unit.
As previous customers have stated on Amazon, the heat is great but only if you’re standing in front of it. It will struggle to heat a room that is 12 x 12. It also takes quite a while to warm up, especially compared to some other portable heaters of similar sizes on the market.
If you’re looking for a powerhouse of a heater, this isn’t the best option. Duraflame has many more units to choose from such as their oscillating tower heater or their fireplace stoves that have realistic-looking logs along with powerful heat outputs.
In Summary
Above are just two infrared heaters from Duraflame but both possess the high quality that we have come to expect from this leading company. While the 9HM9126-0142 lacks some power, it was not built to heat large spaces. Duraflame has a wide range of options to suit all spaces whether you want to just warm your feet up or the whole room.
Duraflame certainly manufactures some of the best heaters that are currently on the market. They have a variety of styles from traditional colonial-styled units to box designs that double as a side table. If you’re looking to save energy and on your heating bills, then Duraflame infrared heaters are a great place to start.
